- Dorothy M. Herrmann (nee Wagner), a caring mother, longtime wife and a skilled surgical nurse in the Waukegan area for decades, died Sept. 10, 2014 at age 84. A 1951 graduate of St. Therese School of Nursing, Dorothy worked in the operating rooom for many years at St. Therese Hospital and in various other departments at Victory Hospital and Zion-Benton Hospital. When she was in her 40s, she returned to school and obtained a degree from St. Francis University. She and her husband Roberrt A. Herrmann had four children, educating them at Our Lady of Humility School in Beach Park and Carmel High School in Mundelein. In retirement, Dorothy's aid in helping raise her eight grandchildren was a great gift appreciated by her children, in-laws and grandkids. She also volunteered at OLH school in her later years, helping greet the children as they arrived. In addition to her husband, she is survived by son Peter of Beach Park, Ill.; daughter LoriLee (Jeffrey) Villwock of Waukkesha, Wis.; son Andrew (Ginny) of Riverside, Ill.; and daughter Jennifer (Anders) Melberg of Lindenhurst, Ill. Surviving grandchildren are Blake and Taylor Villwock; Anna, Katherine, Olivia and Joseph Melberg; and Mitchell and Lana Herrmann. She also leaves many nieces and nephews with whom she was very close. A memorial mass will be held 11 a.m. Saturday Sept. 27, 2014, at St. Peter Church, 27551 Volo Village Rd., Volo, Ill. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The School Sisters of St. Francis, 1501 S. Layton Blvd., Milwaukee, Wis., 53215.
